ASB Reports 2021-2022August
Position Assessment: I worked at the Junior Class Table during Registration by typing people’s information. I wrote out the Procedure Form for the selling of class t-shirts, with help from Makenzie. I assisted Makenzie in filling out the Purchase Order for the Junior Class Shirts. April and I tended the Junior Class T-shirt Table; I wrote out the receipts. Before Club Rush, Dillan, David, and I worked together to put up the names of all of the Juniors to personally invite them to the Back to School Dance. Standing Committee: I am not presently a part of any standing committees thus far. Mentorship Evaluation: My mentorship with Avery has gone very smoothly so far. We communicate often in regards to common tasks, such as Procedure Forms and Purchase Orders. We talk often in regards to our emotional and mental states, not only our academic and Leadership endeavors. Concerns: I am slightly concerned about the work ethic of some of my classmates during Club Rush, especially when we were setting up. During Club Rush, it was apparent that some people were okay with accomplishing a couple of small, menial tasks and being done, while others of us worked the whole time to set up. Positive Comment: This Leadership class is really good about working together and helping other classes, we’re not exclusive to classes. We also did a phenomenal job promoting Club Rush, from the posters to the Instagram posts, and lots of students showed up and signed up for clubs. One Change: One change I would like to see would be that there’s more class participation during discussions, such as the pros and cons list we made regarding Club Rush. My Impact: Some of the impacts I have made on the student body is explaining the why of our events to the student body when asked, branching out to students and peers I haven’t spoken to (including in the Leadership class). I have made sure that I have done all of the things I have committed to doing, as to not put more pressure on my fellow class officers, and I have kept a positive attitude during this stressful time of Club Rush and the Back to School Dance. September - October
Position Assessment: I did a lot of stuff this month. Homecoming was chaotic, but the Junior Class managed to do a lot. I did the Procedure Form, and I was not thrilled with the outcome, so Makenzie and I are going to collaborate on the next one. Therefore, I should be more prepared for big events in the future. At the beginning of the month, April and I worked on the Homecoming Lipsync music, and I was so thrilled with the results. Then, we created a list of potential people that might be willing to participate, and most of them were. April held most of the practices at her house, minus the ones we did at school. I participated in the dance, but April put in the most work. I just assisted and filled in the gaps. Then, we had the purchase order for the float & window decorations, as well as costumes for the Lipsync. That went over smoothly. Then we had the actual Lip Sync, which was really fun and spirited. I helped April and Gabby finish the props beforehand and then the whole junior class went to set up. After that, we had the poster competition. Other than helping Makenzie put the PVC pipe stand into her car, I didn’t help much with creating the poster itself. Jaydin, April, Dillan, Makenzie, and I all came to school early though to set it up. Then, quite a few Juniors went during Leadership to help us take it down. After the Poster competition was the Window one. April was in charge of the original poster, but I again went to help set it up. We decorated the window with an Up house and the cardboard box letters from a classmate. After school, lots of us went to take it down and put it into Gabby’s car since we would use a lot of it for the Float later in the week. Lastly, and most importantly, was the float decorations. Gabby housed the float, so we were at her house the most. I helped Emily make the Up house, and I created a couple of the character cut outs. The float decorating was super fun and a total bonding experience for me, because I still didn’t feel like I knew anyone beforehand. I got to help during the parade by fixing everything that got a little messed up by the ride from Gabby’s house. Then, Emily and I lead the Junior Class float by walking with the poster and interacting with the families on the sides. Finally, we had a football game. Jennaveve, April, and I helped Naomi tie the balloons and gather the materials we’d use to decorate the stadium. We decorated it all together. At half-time I helped Avery and Anthony get the candidate posters off the fencing, as well as the streamers and balloons. One of my favorite parts of Homecoming is Powderpuff, and it’s such a different experience when you’re putting it together. I really enjoyed handing out the boxes to the candidates. Evan was really polite when I gave him his. Moving the risers in a dress was not ideal, but we made it work. Standing Committee: I am not presently a part of any standing committees thus far. Mentorship Evaluation: My mentorship with Avery has gone very smoothly so far. We communicate often in regards to common tasks, such as Procedure Forms and Purchase Orders. We talk often about our emotional and mental states, not only our academic and Leadership endeavors. We went to Isabelle’s for lunch and we really got to know each other. I had a really good time, and I feel like I have a safe space. Concerns: I am slightly concerned about the work ethic of some of my classmates during Homecoming. There were definitely frontrunners and then there were people in the back not really doing much. It felt a little unbalanced in work loads, but I know that class officers should be in charge of their classes Homecoming stuff. Positive Comment: This Leadership class is really good about working together and helping other classes, we’re not exclusive to classes. We also did a phenomenal job promoting the Homecoming Dress Up days. We got so much participation across grades, and it was so fun to see everyone dress up and get spirited. One Change: One change I want to see is not changing seats so often, because I feel like it’s always the same groups of people, just in different parts of the classroom. My Impact: My impact this month was really trying to go above and beyond with assisting with everyone. I didn’t want anyone having to do anything by themselves, because I felt like that would cause a lot of stress. I usually have a pretty flexible schedule, so I definitely have the time to step up and help. And by doing so, I got to create a lot of new friendships, or expand old ones. November - December
Position Assessment: The past two months, I helped Makenzie and April with Dude Be Nice and how to run the event, because we had no idea. Additionally, the Junior Class started preparing for Winterfest by picking their theme, Night and Day, and brainstorming ideas for the pillar, shopping cart, window, and poster. April, Makenzie, and I came up with several possible main themes and dress up days, our favorite being sunglasses vs blankets. Furthermore, I started the Procedure Form for the tree decorations for Warm and Fuzzy week and the following paperwork for that, such as the Purchase Order. I then ordered all of the decorations and ensured their arrival. Furthermore, we continued distributing t-shirts to our classmates and folding and labeling them. Lastly, we’ve began talking about Prom and how we want to handle it. We went to lunch and she was in my group for the door decorating for Warm and Fuzzy week and we bonded during that as well. Concerns: I am slightly concerned for the Sophomores and how much they’re working in this season. I know they have a lot on their plates. Positive Comment: Our class is really good at making sure no one is left out. Whenever we change seating, people are still friendly and kind to everyone else. One Change: One change I would make would be how much work load I’m taking on. During Dude Be Nice, Makenzie did the Procedure Form, and that was part of my job description. I’m going to do the Procedure Form for Winterfest and the Tree Decorating and I’m going to do it well. My Impact: Some of the impacts I have made on the student body is the Door Decorating that we did this past Sunday, which spread positivity and joy throughout the campus. It also made it look so festive and cohesive. Additionally, I’ve posted almost all of the events and standings for spirit counts on my personal instagram to engage the students. January - February
Position Assessment: These past few months, the Junior Class has been very busy with Winterfest and Prom. April was in charge of Winterfest, and I was at her house everyday after school during the week of Winterfest and the week before. We worked on posters and the shopping cart for a longgggg time. Fortunately, it went pretty smoothly and we had very minimal casualties, but it was a very stressful week. The dress up days were kinda confusing, but I think our class really gave it their all. Furthermore, we’ve had several meetings with Mayfield about Prom, the last was to solidify our budget and ticket prices. Unfortunately, I was not able to go to the venue with everyone during Winter Break, because I was in Washington, but the other officers really enjoyed it and I’m glad that it’s the route we’re going. Standing Committee: I’m now a Link Leader for the 2022-2023 school year! Faith and I are going to make an excellent team, and since we’re involved in such different school pathways, we’ll be able to answer all of the questions really quickly and efficiently. We’re connecting on when we should make the poster and some ideas behind it. Mentorship Evaluation: My mentorship with Avery is so much fun. We went to coffee a couple of weeks ago just to catch up and talk about Prom and what not. It was really fun, because Avery and I have really similar personalities and she’s by far one of the funniest people I know. I’m so glad she’s my mentor. Concerns: I don’t have any major concerns this time around, minus mock interviews and actual interviews this Saturday. Positive Comment: I was kind of nervous about the seating chart when I saw it, but I actually really enjoy my tablemates and the conversations we have. They’re like the siblings I didn’t know I needed but enjoy having nonetheless. Derek especially. One Change: One change I’m going to make this month is really trying to do my journal. I had a really strong record, and I’ve lost it this past week. Therefore, I’m going to commit to finishing it by Saturday night so I can easily submit it by Monday’s time. My Impact: Some of the impacts I have made on the student body is making my video for elections (and sharing all election based posts on my Instagram). Furthermore, I attended the Board Meeting for the month, and it was definitely eye opening. Furthermore, I’ll be able to help all of the incoming freshman with Link Crew! March - April
Position Assessment: The Junior Class has been very busy with Prom season in full swing. We’ve had countless meetings with Mayfield, and we have a solid plan for selling tickets. We had to extend the guest pass due date as well as when Promposals are due, because lots of students complained about not having enough time, even though we pushed out the info in February. But I digress. For next school year, the future Senior Officers and I are picking the merch designs, as well as brainstorming potential Homecoming and Winterfest themes, because we’ll have little time to decide once the school year starts. Standing Committee: I’m now part of Link Crew for the 2022-2023 school year! We had our first real event during March with 8th grade day. Unfortunately, my brother was in my group, but it was fine and still really fun. I think I bonded with some of them, and not so much with others, but I still consider it a success. Special Committee: April and I are in charge of the school-wide Jeopardy game for Student Appreciation day in May. We’re going to finish the board over the weekend, and the google form for the teams was created by me a couple of weeks ago. We’re almost ready. Then, on the day of, we’ll set up the board and then, with the help of Tech, MC the event. April ordered prizes for the winners, which are luau themed to accompany the dance on Saturday. Mentorship Evaluation: Avery and I have texted each other and gone out to lunch a couple of times. She was really busy with college acceptances and stuff, so it wasn’t all that much. But I know I can still go to her for whatever I need. Concerns: It’s not a fixable concern, but I’m worried about getting everything done during May when everyone will be gone doing other things. Positive Comment: I love this class, and all of my classmates, and I’m so sad the year is ending and some people won’t be back next year. One Change: One change I’d make is the school year not ending so soon :( My Impact: I’ve been trying to just finish the Procedure form and stay in my lane, because everyone, including me, seems a little on edge as the school year comes to a close. Name: Gracie Winchell
Position: Junior Class Administrative Assistant Date: May 16, 2022 ASB Report of April & May 2022 Position Assessment: The Juniors were very busy with the ending of Prom and turning in the Procedure Form and Thank You Cards. Prom was a massive success, minus the DJ, which Makenzie had to handle. Then, April and I started thinking of Homecoming and Winterfest themes and how easy they would be to execute for all of the classes, which is surprisingly difficult. Also, we’ve continued working on our senior shirt designs, but that’s definitely been put on the back burner with the Challenge. Speaking of the Challenge, April and I were in charge of the Jeopardy game, which was a success. April made the board, and I handled the google form and made the questions. Unfortunately, we had very little participation from our class, which kinda sucked because I told everyone to sign up. But the Freshman Officers did win and April had ordered the prize, so they were solid. I did lots of little things for the Challenge, like some Purchase Orders and other little things to pick up the slack. Lastly, I was the main folder stuffer for the CADA conference, which was not a super fun job but it was manageable. I had help from some of the other Leadership kids, but it wasn’t a whole lot. I also helped set up for Tribal Awards and College Reveal, which was super fun. Taking everything down for College Reveal was super fun, because I got to hang out with Sofia, Gia, and James. The most recent event was the Banquet, which was super fun and I’m so proud of everyone who was recognized, because all of the awards were so well deserved. I didn’t help set up the event, but I did help take everything down. There’s not much to do in the future, other than shirt sales this week. Standing Committee: I have Link Crew Study Buddy Night tonight and tomorrow, but that’s about it. Mentorship Evaluation: Avery and I are going to lunch for the last time this week, which is so sad. I loved having her as my mentor, and I’m sad that she’s leaving. Concerns: The challenge was rough and it felt like some people definitely did more than others. Positive Comment: I want to recognize April, because she did so much for the Jeopardy game during the Student Appreciation Day for the Challenge. She was so positive and upbeat, which really brightened the whole mood. One Change: I would change how the Challenge was executed, because it was massively disappointing. My Impact: I did lots of little things to try and help everyone with the Challenge and all of the end of the year craziness. |
